Sidcup Rotary Club facilitates garden improvements at local Avenues service
Tuesday 15th of July 2025People supported at an Avenues London service in Sidcup have been enjoying improved garden access following a makeover after a generous donation from Sidcup Rotary Club.
The donation has meant the service has been able to fund transformative works in the garden including the building of a patio. This has made the garden easier to use by people supported at the service who all have mobility issues and use wheelchairs.
Emma Disley, Manager at the service said:
“People we support here can now get out into the garden much more. We have been enjoying barbecues, garden parties and even simply spending the day listening to music outside. We are also able to hold tenants’ meetings out here in the summer.”
The improvements were carried out by a local gardening company, who also painted the fence, planted trees and shrubs in the front garden and installed two large colourful planters, filled with vegetables, in the back garden.

Inspired by the improvement, Emma is hoping to build on what has already been done with the people they support at the service:
“We’d like to plant even more things ourselves and make it look even better. Staff are already planning to go to the garden centre with the people we support,” said Emma.
Avenues London Director Mickey Gray added:
“We are really grateful to Sidcup Rotary Club for their kind donation. Enjoying time outside together really makes a difference to the lives of people that live here.”
