Sharing our PBS skills and knowledge

Monday 16th of January 2023

Avenues’ growing reputation for sector-leading Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is allowing us to share our expertise with other providers.

Recently we were successfully reaccredited in meeting the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards as an in-house provider Certified by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD).

As well as being an endorsement of what we do, this saves public money as we do not need to employ external trainers and allows us to design the course content to meet our needs, in this case we use PBS to meet the RRN Training Standards.

The Care Quality Commission demands to see that all training that has an element of restrictive practice included is delivered by accredited RRN training providers.

And through the renewed endorsement, Skills for Care has approached us to be a peer reviewer for PBS training, supporting other adult social care providers to improve their training and quality of life for people they support.

“This is another example of our commitment to providing the highest quality training for staff, and consequently support for the people we work with”, says Head of Quality, Assurance and Practice, Matt Eves (pictured), “We’re delighted by the reaccreditation, and the opportunity to help other organisations develop the way they support people.”
