Response to CQC report for Glebe House
Friday 6th of March 2026Avenues London – Glebe House has received its latest inspection report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection that took place approximately nine months ago. The service has been given an overall rating of Requires Improvement, with a rating of Inadequate for Safe.
The report referenced concerns the regulator believed could place people at risk of harm, including a hammer left on the floor of a downstairs bathroom and a damaged fire door. These matters had already been identified and addressed at the time. The hammer referenced had been left temporarily by contractors in a staff area and was not accessible to the people we support.
Fundamental care and safety remain our prime concern, and as an organisation the safety and wellbeing of the people we support always comes first.
Since the inspection, plans to strengthen systems, oversight and documentation have already been well underway. At the time inspectors visited, we were already progressing plans to move from paper-based systems to electronic recording as part of wider improvements to governance and monitoring.
Glebe House has been operating for more than 20 years and has a long history of supporting people safely in the community. While we respect the role of the regulator, we do not fully agree that the report reflects the overall quality of care being delivered.
We remain committed to continuous improvement and will continue to work constructively with the CQC while being open and transparent with families, professionals and commissioners.
