Free legal information now on Avenues website
Monday 16th of June 2025Avenues has teamed up with Access Social Care to enable people and their families to receive free legal information about social care through a chatbot on their website.
Access Social Care is a charity that supports communities to increase knowledge of the law and rights, providing free legal advice and information for people with health and social care needs. They have developed a chatbot called AccessAva which you can now access on this website.

What does the AccessAva chatbot do?
The AccessAva chatbot offers free legal information about social care in England. It helps users to answer legal questions and points them to the resources, including legal letters, that can resolve health and social care problems early on.
The chatbot:
- Is available 24/7: it can be used for free on our website at any time, day or night.
- Gives you accurate legal information on your social care rights and entitlements, verified by qualified lawyers.
- Offers helpful resources, including letters, videos, fact sheets and Easy Read documents.
- Is accessible, with content tailored for diverse communities and needs.
- Is advanced: powered by award-winning technology and trained by legal experts, ensuring that the information you receive is as reliable as possible.
How to use the AccessAva chatbot
You can find the AccessAva chatbot by selecting the round purple icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen:

Once you select the purple AccessAva icon, a bigger window will open up:

The chatbot will ask you some questions to understand more about your situation and identify what the legal issue might be. You select your answer from a set of pre-populated buttons which allows AccessAva to provide the correct resource or legal letter that addresses that specific situation. It also helps useful data to be collected to inform system change.
AccessAva will then produce a letter or email that you could use to ask for the right care and support. You can either download the template letter, or the chatbot can help you fill one in.
You can email yourself a copy of your chat at the end as a reminder.
