Avenues announces new trustee vacancies
Friday 6th of June 2025Avenues is looking for new trustees to work with our Executive Director team to help shape the future of the organisation as it continues to grow
According to Chair of Trustees Terry Rich, who has worked for over 50 years in social care, it’s an exciting time for the charity;
“Over the last 30 years, we have gradually grown in terms of the numbers of people supported and the areas in which we work. But we believe that we can do more…We have trustees from lots of different backgrounds. If you would like to come and make a difference at a truly fantastic organisation we encourage you to apply.”
Avenues supports a hugely diverse group of people and to reflect this in its trustee team, the organisation would love to see more applications from people with first-hand or lived experience of disability and autistic people.
Rina Pandya, who works in the NHS, applied to be a trustee having experienced looking for support for her brother who has a learning disability. She has found it to be a huge learning experience both personally and professionally;
“It’s been a real eye opener working and supporting Avenues because being a receiver of social care can sometimes feel like a battle. But actually, coming onto the other side and understanding the complexities, the funding flows and how difficult it is to navigate, it’s definitely not as easy as I thought.”
“I’ve learnt a lot. Avenues has helped me in my day-to-day job. It’s also benefited my career development in the sense that I’m part of a board. To be able to partake in those sorts of discussions at a board level, working with some phenomenally experienced people in terms of the other trustees, their knowledge and their expertise has been great.”
Trustee applications are open until the end of July.
