A visit to the London Transport Museum and a very special interview!

Wednesday 4th of December 2024

Railway fan David loved his trip to the London Transport Museum so much that the team there have shared an interview with him on their website!

The visit was planned when he found out about the museum’s Explorer Events, which has recently been made more accessible to disabled adults. With reduced noise and low lighting, the new Adult Explorer Evening is the first step in making the Museum more accessible. With the help of his support worker at Emily Jackson Close, Lisa, tickets were booked and they were soon on their way to the capital.

Off the back of his visit, the London Transport Museum asked to interview David to find out more about his love of trains, and his experience at the museum. You can read his interview here.

“I love trains. I have lots of knowledge about them (the different classes, etc) and I have a huge collection of memorabilia too!

“The staff were friendly towards me, I felt very welcome and really happy. The volunteers had a Gibson ticket machine that meant I was able, with Lisa’s help, to use a bell punch and print a ticket. The volunteer, as a surprise for me, put the letter ‘D’ on it! I still have that ticket now.”
