An open and inclusive organisation - Avenues Group

An open and inclusive organisation

Avenues is proud to support and employ all kinds of people, and values the unique skills and experience each person brings to our community.

The organisation has been named as one of the Top 100 Employers by the National Centre for Diversity.

At the heart of the organisation is a person-centred approach. That means recognising each individual’s skills and needs and the part they play in the organisation. In the case of people we support, in society and their community.

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Steering Group

To help make sure we have diversity, equality and inclusion within the organisation The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Steering Group was formed. It’s a group of people from different areas of the organisation with different roles and people we support. They work together and in consultation with employees in order to promote diversity and inclusion across Avenues; for people we support, staff, families, trustees and other volunteers.

Each Avenues subsidiary has an equality, diversity and inclusion representative. There are also sub groups for:

  • race and ethnicity
  • disability
  • trustee recruitment
  • communications

The Steering Group aims to influence the strategic direction of equality, diversity and inclusion in Avenues; and to make sure Senior Leaders carry out the equality, diversity and inclusion strategy in the right way. That is the Senior Leadership Group, Executive Management Teams and Board of Trustees.

You can find out more about equality, diversity and inclusion and the role of the steering group in the short film below.
