South East
Avenues started life in Kent, so it’s where much of our experience and expertise originated – working with people who were moving out of long-stay hospitals whose behaviour had been considered too ‘challenging’ for community services. We have a base near East Malling and our range of services includes residential care, supported living and outreach.
A summary of our operational priorities
We have an ambitious but realistic set of goals that will help our services to continuously improve and to offer more people more of our outstanding support. Our plan forms part of the Groups Strategic Plan with an emphasis on the following areas:
- Quality and Specialism
- Capacity and Resources
- Building our Reputation
- Sustainability and Growth
- Engagement and Coproduction
In the South East we will:
- Continue our work with Medway Council to deregister a number of our residential services to enable people we support to have their own tenancies and greater choice and control over their support and their home.
- Fill our remaining voids across the South East within budget and welcome those people into the Avenues family.
- Develop a new Supported Living Service in Kent.
- Conduct a review of any deficit contribution services and develop a financial action plan for any such services as required.
- Develop our teams and have more managers and key staff with relevant qualifications in PBS and Active Support.

What things are you most proud of in your services?
I am so proud to have joined Avenues South East. Our services have a brilliant reputation locally and I knew coming in to this role how lucky I am to be joining such a great team. During the Covid-19 pandemic I have seen so many amazing examples of creative, positive support across the South East putting the people we support at the centre of everything that we do. At Avenues we’re determined that all our services maintain a Good or Outstanding overall rating from the CQC, so we are currently working with the great team at Maidstone Road on an action plan to ensure it meets that standard – which we know it’s very capable of doing.
