South East | Avenues Group

South East

Avenues started life in Kent, so it’s where much of our experience and expertise originated – working with people who were moving out of long-stay hospitals whose behaviour had been considered too ‘challenging’ for community services. We have a base near East Malling and our range of services includes residential care, supported living and outreach.

2020-21: A summary of our operational priorities

Avenues South East is currently maintaining Good or Outstanding overall CQC rating across all its Supported Living services, but has one residential Requires Improvement rating, which we are determined to remedy.

We have a continuous improvement plan in place and we anticipate a ‘Good’ outcome in the near future.

Everything we do will have the people we support, and our vision for them, at the centre.

This year we will –

  • Create and fulfil improvement plans for all services that require improvement, working with our regulators at the CQC.
  • Fill our residential voids successfully with people who are happy to live there.
  • Grow through working with our partners across the South East to deliver more outstanding services to more people.
  • Work with our partners to identify a creative, robust and deliverable housing plan to be delivered as part of the 2021-25 organisational strategy.
  • Ensure high-performing services maintain existing standards and strive to continuously improve.
  • Retain long-servicing staff who add so much value to what we do.
  • Recruit new staff who live our values.

What things are you most proud of in your services?

I am so proud to have joined Avenues South East. Our services have a brilliant reputation locally and I knew coming in to this role how lucky I am to be joining such a great team. During the Covid-19 pandemic I have seen so many amazing examples of creative, positive support across the South East putting the people we support at the centre of everything that we do. At Avenues we’re determined that all our services maintain a Good or Outstanding overall rating from the CQC, so we are currently working with the great team at Maidstone Road on an action plan to ensure it meets that standard – which we know it’s very capable of doing.
