It takes 2

It Takes 2 is an exciting new project running across Bromley and Greenwich. The project will connect 100 people with learning disabilities with 100 people from the local community.

The project is run by Avenues and is funded by the Big Lottery. The funding application was based on research at Avenues which showed that some people with learning disabilities have limited networks of people around them. It takes 2 recognises this and aims to create meaningful connections, and reduce loneliness within communities.

The project will do this by matching people based on shared interests, hobbies or skills. From kick boxing, to swimming to playing guitar, this is about sharing something you enjoy with someone else.

Anyone in the community can take part and we are looking to match people now. You’ll work alongside one of our experienced project workers who will introduce you to the person you are matched with. You’ll then meet for around 3 hours a week to enjoy your shared interest or hobby.

This is a great opportunity to get more involved in your community and you’ll also be helping to combat loneliness experienced by people with a learning disability. It’s is a chance to make a new friend, and to share something you feel passionate about.
