Picture of Carol HomdenChair: Dr Carol Homden

Carol has a commercial and entrepreneurial approach to the public sector.  She has been developing entrepreneurial business skills from her student days when she set up print media enterprises in East Anglia and then, when she moved to London, working as a freelance arts journalist and editor.  She studied her degree and PhD at the University of East Anglia and worked as a Director of Marketing and Development at the University of Westminster before moving to The British Museum in 1999 as its first Director of Marketing and Public Affairs, responsible for all front-of-house services.

In March 2003, she joined The Prince's Trust to work again for an organisation that makes a difference to young people's lives as Commercial Director, bringing a blend of brand and political management with a high emphasis on income generation.  Carol became a Chief Executive of Children's charity, Coram in April 2007 and this and her experience in supporting a son with autistic spectrum disorder informs her voluntary work as Chair of Avenues.
