Learning & Development
To ensure that the learning and development activities we undertake are the right ones, we have brought together all of our training programmes under one ‘umbrella'.
The Avenues Academy offers a wide range of courses and programmes designed to help all of our staff develop their skills, knowledge and behaviours in a framework that supports people's ambitions from when they first start with the organisation, through to eventually becoming a senior manager, if that is what they desire.
The commitment to learning and development also underpins our Vision, Mission Statement and Values to ensure that our staff have the right knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to support and improve the quality of life for the people that we support. This commitment is driven from the very top of the organisation, and it is important to us that all of our learning and development activities support this philosophy.
Learning and development activities offered within the Academy fall into one of four categories:-
-
Induction Training
- National Vocational Qualifications
- Statutory and Best Practice Programmes
- Management and Leadership Programmes
Our effective Learning and Development Strategy is critical in supporting the organisation in achieving its objectives and developing its staff. We aim to provide learning and development opportunities matched to our specific needs, and will utilise a wide range of learning methods.
Our goals are to:
- Equip our staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to carry out their job with confidence
- Support our staff in reaching their full potential in their current role and to prepare them for the future
- Provide learning experiences that are fun and enjoyable and maximise learning
- Provide structured development programmes
- Develop and use different learning methods, for example, Open Learning Workbooks and Computer Based Training (CBT)
- Develop a culture of continuous learning, coaching and mentoring
The programmes are a blend of internally and externally taught courses, open-learning activities and less formal methods such as coaching and reflective practice activities.
