Avenues to host World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in Sherwood
5 October 2011The event is being organised by the employees and residents at ‘The Pines’ in Sherwood which is a registered care home for people with learning disabilities) run by Avenues Trust Support Services. The event itself is being held at the nearby TN2 Community Centre on Gregg Woods Road from 1.30pm to 5.30pm. The event is being organised not only to raise funds for Macmillian Cancer Support but also to bring local people together for a fun social event and to meet the residents of the Pines. The Pines employees have been working with other local organisations in the local community such as St. Phillip's Church, TN2 Community Centre and AXA who are all keen to support the event. Avenues Trust Support Services are part of the Avenues Trust Group which is a group of charitable organisations who support people with disabilities to lead full and active lives. Last year 43,000 people registered to hold a coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support and raised more than £8million. The annual event also raises people's awareness of cancer and how it affects individuals and their families and friends.
